Pump Rescue Ladders

The frontline appliances of our fleet are our Dennis, Volvo and Mercedes Pump Rescue Ladders.

These appliances are purpose designed for enhanced crew efficiency and greater crew safety. Each of these appliances carries a minimum of 1800 litres of water and is fitted with a 4500 litre per minute engine driven pump that is capable of producing four fire fighting jets and/or two high pressure hose reels.

To minimise the manual handling demands placed upon our fire-fighters, some of our pump rescue ladders are fitted with pneumatically powered hose reel winders and drop down ladder gantries that remove the need for the crew to access the roof of the appliance and lower down equipment. The vehicles are fitted with full scene lighting and engine driven 110-volt generators plus lighting equipment (including mast lights), to ensure that the incident ground is always suitably illuminated.

Each front line appliance carries 60 metres of high pressure hose reel, lay flat hose, branches, hose ramps, foam making equipment, personal flotation devices, throw lines, rope lines, portable pump, winches, shackles, webbing straps, powered extrication equipment, chocks, blocks, wedges, breathing apparatus (BA), environmental protection kits, full compliment of ladders, trauma care kits, and casualty handling equipment.
